If I am going to cast a leveling layer of about 20 mm on an existing concrete slab, fiber-reinforced self-leveling compound is good, but very expensive (about 200-250 SEK/25 kg).

1. Are there any other products that can be used and are cheaper? Tips? Experiences?

2. What is the point of "fiber" self-leveling compound if you have a concrete slab?

3. Does the issue (fiber or not) change if you are going to have or not have underfloor heating?

4. Can you compensate for fiber compound by using another product (fine concrete) in combination with steel mesh?

Grateful for opinions from you on this excellent forum!

My first question must be: why should you use self-leveling compound on the concrete. It is clearly decisive for what you should have as leveling.
Sure, you can use fine concrete, but then you have to scratch the old concrete surface so that the new thin concrete layer gets a good grip.

Without knowing what you're going to do, I believe that self-leveling compound is the only right option. And above all, definitely the easiest.

used non-fiber in the basement for 130/bag

however, reinforced with mesh that was screwed in everywhere...

on wooden joists, only fiber-reinforced applies though!

If you're going to have underfloor heating, fiber-reinforced is probably recommended, considering the tensions that arise in the floor...
