Hello!

Does anyone have any tips on what type of sealant to use for a painted wooden fence in joints and such?

It's a cross railing with holes made in the posts for the actual slats. This will cause water to run directly into the posts, and that's what we want to prevent. The wood is primed and painted once with the final color. The idea is to seal the joints and then paint again.

We bought a sealant that turned out to be quite useless, it's clear and just lay like a kind of gel and doesn't stick to the substrate. You can roll it off with your fingers.

Anyone have tips on what to use? Preferably a white-colored one.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks! Do you know if it adheres well to already painted surfaces? The other sealant we bought did not do that, or it didn't adhere anywhere really. Do you know how long you have to wait before painting over?

I think I painted before (but it was a while ago). It says on the tube how long you should wait before painting over... I think it was a day or so.
