How do you best seal (rat-proof) this conduit?
It is located in the ceiling of an unfinished basement, so it doesn't matter much how it will look.
Gray plastic conduits and pipes exit through a ceiling opening in an unfinished basement, requiring rodent-proof sealing.

Cast for the best results. Otherwise, use foam sealant, but they tend to eat through it.

I also have experience with rats eating through sealant foam.
But how do you cast in the ceiling?

just press up mortar. but don't use regular "sand filler"

Can't you seal with foam from underneath and then pour in expanding concrete from above?

Unfortunately, you can't access it from above.....

If you press up mortar, it has to be really viscous, right? Or what's the trick to prevent it from falling down?

One thing is to use mortar that has the right type of consistency. I just recommended a range of products that I believe would fit in both horizontally and upside-down in another thread. (https://www.byggahus.se/forum/fonst...gammalt-fult-valv.html?perpage=15#post2242140) I think one of them will be helpful. Another thing is the approach. The trowel is good in these situations, and using reasonably high pressure when pressing mortar into nooks and crannies is important so that it doesn't fall down. Additionally, this should probably be done in stages and allow the mortar to cure until the next day before the next stage, as the mortar can come loose if pressed in when it has begun to cure.

Mix plaster render to be sluggish, simple, and cheap. Because it seems like you have plaster ceilings. Then it becomes uniform as well.
