I have screwed up curtain brackets, some of which I have screwed directly without any plugs. They are secure, nothing is loose. Should I unscrew and add plugs or will it hold as it is? Afraid they might fall off in a year or so.

The answer depends quite a lot on what material you have screwed into :D

Seems to be plaster.

It can work fine to screw directly into the drywall for low-load installations. What can happen is that if, for example, you pull a curtain back and forth, it can gradually become loose around the screw as it gnaws on the drywall. But it's not like everything suddenly collapses. I often screw directly into the drywall out of convenience, and if it starts to loosen, you can insert a plug then.

Okay, thanks for the response, one of the walls was concrete where I also just used a screw without a plug, it should hold in that case? :D

A bit of High Chapral but if the screw is secure and it's not holding something like a safety line, I'd be satisfied.

great, then I know. It remains to be seen if the fastenings on the drywall hold. Otherwise, I'll just insert a plug.
