Where can one find a real junkyard nowadays? All the junkyards I've visited have turned into recycling industries and hold onto the iron pieces as if they were gold. I need some old pipes, an old ventilation duct, and an I-beam for some crazy projects. If I'm starting from Södertälje - where should I go? Russia?
What size is the I-beam? I have two for sale.
They have been cut from a carport (see the image).

I believe they are about 2.5 m long approximately and they are located in Sollentuna. For the rest, you'll probably have to go to Norrland to find them

They seem a bit too coarse and short those ones. I was thinking of embedding an I-beam into a deck to handle a small flow from a downspout from the balcony above. If it works well, I even thought of connecting a small pump into the downspout so that it can be used as a water feature.
Stop wasting time.
If it's such small amounts, I would probably go and buy it directly. It's not that expensive.
I bought H-beams at http://www.bengtssonssmide.se/
30 meters of HE100 cost 5000:- including VAT. They charge per kg. My beams weigh 500 kg.

That's perfect!BAS said:
Do they also have the expertise to do load calculations for their beams or do they just sell iron? I'll be needing an H or I beam in the fall when I tear down yet another wall that should be quite load-bearing (a former outer wall).
When ordering steel, you can get it primed so you can avoid that hassle later. I know that Ströms Skrot in Västberga sells some used items.
Prices and types can be found here http://www.stenametall.com/Swedish/Products+and+services/Stålgrossist.htm under the stock price list.
There is also steel in Huddinge http://www.huddingesteel.se/

Great, I'll think about how it looks and get back to you via pm. This is part of the fall/winter project, so not all paddles are in the water yet regarding this.BAS said:
