Hello everyone,

Started the project "paint laundry room floor" in the basement. Previously, the laundry room shared space with an old oil tank/accumulator tank, but I removed it last summer and now plan to repaint the floor.

After all the work with sweeping, vacuuming, scrubbing, etc., I realized that it would be more fun if it turned out really well, so I decided to quickly use self-leveling compound on the floor. The floor already has a decent slope, except for the area where the oil tank used to be, which is slightly uneven, so I thought I'd fix it at the same time.

Anyway, I went to Biltema, which was open on Sunday, and found "leveling compound," quickly googled, and realized it's supposed to be the same as self-leveling screed (?).

I bought 6 bags (1 bag = 1cm/sqm) (planning for 3mm x 20sqm). Mixed it, but it didn't flow out at all according to my previous experiences with self-leveling screed... added about 1dl extra water per bag (mixing 2 bags at a time), got better but not good. I figured I bought the wrong product and chose leveling compound instead of self-leveling screed, and I gave up a bit. Spread the rest over the entire floor with a putty knife but ended up with an uneven result; what was previously a slightly uneven floor (with a good slope) now looks like a Swedish mountain landscape, still slightly uneven with level differences of 2-3mm all over the place.

How do I fix my mistake? Apply a new thin layer of leveling compound with more water in the mix to get it to flow? However, it's just 0-3mm I need to apply; some places say I must apply at least 5-10mm.
