Sauna walls before or after tiling?
Hello!
I'm in the process of decorating an upper floor, and on this floor, there's supposed to be a large bathroom with a sauna. Now I'm wondering if it's preferable to lay tiles on the entire bathroom floor before framing the sauna walls, or should I frame the sauna walls before laying the tiles?
My spontaneous thought on this is that the waterproofing might be easier to manage if the tiles are laid first. If anyone has experience with this and would like to share, I'd be grateful.
Best regards,
NT

Since the sauna walls need to have a waterproof layer on the outside anyway, I would have framed first and then laid the tiles. Additionally, you avoid a lot of unnecessary holes in the floor's waterproof layer. The fewer holes in the waterproof layer, the less risk of moisture damage. That's what I think, but on the other hand, I'm not an expert in the field.

If you want to lay tiles first, I would leave a proper air gap between the wall and the floor (about 10 cm). If the wall is directly on the floor, it must be waterproofed and clad with tiles along the skirting, so it is better to build the wall first and then tile.
