It's time to renovate the bathroom after water damage in the floor. A construction company through the insurance company inspected but withdrew as it would require more work than just damage repair.
We have a sauna that is reached via the shower, where the sauna door is only 70 cm from the shower and therefore should be included in zone 1. Under the door, there is a threshold that repels water from the shower, but somewhere here the water damage originates. There has previously been a vinyl mat under the sauna floor.
The construction company suggested removing the threshold and having a sloped floor with waterproofing in the sauna towards the floor drain in the shower, and ensuring there is waterproofing and tiling around the doorway and waterproofing a bit onto the walls in the sauna.
I want to better understand the issues and what is possible.
1. Would there be any problem with making the entire sauna zone 1 but still having wooden sauna panels?
2. If so, how would the panels be attached to the wall?
3. Would it be wiser to just arrange according to zone 1 just one meter from the shower and then apply zone 2 for the rest of the way?
4. Is the zone measured as a radius from the shower? I wonder how it affects having a tiled door frame within this meter in zone 1.
