Hello!

I'm renovating my summer house and have reached the living room. I've encountered a few "problems" along the way. My dad previously cut the rafters to make room for a staircase to the loft.
A post with a glulam beam has been used to support the rafters.
Now, you can see that the rafters have settled; either it wasn't done right from the start, or it has settled over time.
My question is, is it worth trying to prop up the rafters so they rise a bit and don't sag as much and replace with a higher beam than the current one? Or just leave it as is? I'm planning to lower the ceiling anyway, so it won't be visible that it sags like it does today.

You probably shouldn't build in problems; it's important to be able to check if it gets worse over time because if it continues, it could lead to significant damage. It might also affect the exterior walls.
