This is mostly a fun detail in the house, but at the same time, you have to store the backup hard drive for the music library and the spare car key somewhere.
In the basement, part of one wall bulges outward, and when two plumbers extended the heating system, they made a small hole (as the pipes came through there). It turned out to be a space where the drain pipes run. But there is plenty of clearance between the pipes and the wall, so the idea of a safe seemed obvious. I bought a small, simple, and cheap safe (http://www.jula.se/sakerhetsskap-med-kodlas-23l-440117), and naturally, the invisibility that comes with the installation constitutes a possible security aspect rather than the construction of the cheap safe. An elegant painting will then be placed in front.
The safe fits great in the hole, but I'm not quite sure how to anchor it. The first problem is that the wall that was broken into is a simple drywall, and resting the safe on it will cause it to crumble. I also want to smooth it out so it looks somewhat decent when the painting in front is opened. How do I best do this, so it becomes a straight and even square opening in the drywall rather than uneven and jagged?
There isn't much to screw into, and the safe weighs 11.5 kg without contents. These hold 100 kg per pair (http://www.clasohlson.com/se/Hyllkonsol-Habo/Pr311936000), but I can only fit one of them. I can also only secure the safe with one of the two anchoring screws for the same reason. It doesn't feel quite right, but if you can make the drywall edge straight and reinforce it with something, maybe the front can rest there anyway?
(The red cloth in the pictures is there so the cats don't see and jump into the hole, I just opened it up to take the picture).
I would probably have screwed wooden studs behind the plasterboard. I would then have used these as support to sand/cut the plasterboard against to make it straight and neat. It looks like there is some wooden construction behind? Can't you screw some studs against the underlying construction and out in the plasterboard wall and just place the cabinet on these?
