Hello!
We are renovating and removed an old built-in wardrobe that was against the chimney and part of the back of the kitchen (as you can see in the picture). Now, I plan to build a real wall here to separate it from the kitchen, and then the idea is to build in a PAX wardrobe here instead. My question is, should the stud be moved out 100mm from the chimney, or is this okay? The wardrobe will not reach the chimney at all, so there shouldn't be any problems there at least.
Drywall should also be preferred on the studs instead of something like chipboard, since it's not flammable, I assume?
(It is worth noting that the chimney is not used today because the house has geothermal heating, but I'm trying to follow the rules as best as possible)

Place a steel stud closest to the chimney.FKARLSSON said:
Hi!
We are renovating and removed an old built-in closet that was against the chimney and part of the kitchen's backside (as you can see in the picture). Now we're planning to build a proper wall here to separate from the kitchen, and then the idea is to build in a PAX wardrobe here instead. My question is, should the stud be moved out 100mm from the chimney, or is this okay? The wardrobe will not reach into the chimney at all, so there shouldn't be any problems there.
Gypsum boards should also be preferred against the studs instead of something like particle board since it's not flammable, I assume?

Assuming that nothing flammable should be against the chimney, the best option is probably using steel studs for everything near the chimney. I admit that I don't remember the rules off the top of my head, but they are available online.
It should work to just move the rule out ~100mm I suppose?
Considering just moving the rule out so nothing is closer than 100mm to the chimney. Do you think you can let 100mm gypsum "hang" between the last rule and the chimney?wildeside said:
