Hello,

Last summer we discovered that part of the panel in our sunroom had cracked, mainly due to the fact that the window trim is sloped backward, allowing moisture to seep into the structure. I temporarily repaired and sealed it, and now it's time to address the issue.

The basic construction consists of studs placed directly on concrete slabs. The outdoor decking is made of treated wood, but the wall does not appear to be treated? Feeling down on the stud that rests on the slabs, it feels damp and even soft right where the post meets it.

This spontaneously feels like a poor solution and one might guess that the previous owner built it themselves. I would like to replace everything, but it's a big job since it's at the bottom and a crucial part of the load-bearing structure. Is there a good solution for this besides tearing down the entire wall?

Chose to tear everything down and it turned out that the beam at the bottom was completely rotten. When you pressed a screwdriver into it, water came up.

Now we'll need to lay a new pressure-treated beam on the sill gasket, and we'll hope it holds better. We'll also use pressure-treated wood in the actual construction of the wall to be on the safe side.
