Hello everyone!

I've had some exterior cladding under a tarp where one side got a bit wet and hasn't dried properly. 40cm of a 4m board has a bit of rot.

Should I just cut away the rotten part and use the healthy wood, or what do you think? See picture :)

A wooden plank with visible signs of rot and red paint on the edges, placed on grass.

Best regards, Pontus S

I see no rot and you don't need to cut anything.
The air gap behind the panel will dry it out.
Edit: Looked a bit closer and maybe there is a bit of incipient rot, but that doesn't change my answer.

Thank you so much for your reply!

I'll cut away the worst parts and as you said, it will dry up when ventilated.

All the best!
