I have 6 pallets from the roofing project that I'm planning to take to the dump. Do you know if there's any deposit system for these?
They're not euro pallets, but they're sturdy compared to many other junk pallets I've received.
Monier is the supplier, can't find anything when I google.

As long as they are not plastic pallets or essentially new euro pallets, as far as I know, there is no deposit.
You do get money for damaged or dirty euro pallets too, but very little if they are not A-class.

They usually use EU pallets. When I was putting up the roof, the supplier took the pallets back, so I assume they have value. Otherwise, they would probably have been left behind.

I think the whole pallet system seems watered down these days. It seems like only larger companies are dealing with pallet returns. No one else seems to care, or it's included in the price of the products you buy. In the past, nice pallets were attractive, and they would disappear quickly if left unattended, but now, as mentioned, no one cares...... It's not uncommon to see new, nice pallets in recycling or with people burning them.
A completely okay EU pallet seems to have a value of 40kr. http://www.pallcentralen.se/bast-betalt/ This means that handling single pallets is probably not worth it. Goods sent to end customers very often seem to be on cheaper disposable pallets.

They charged a deposit of 100:- + VAT /pallet

Yeah, but the value has always been there. In the past, pallets were stolen all the time, and top-quality pallets were almost locked up, and what went out to the customer was almost always on the worst possible ones. Now, you sometimes get new pallets that nobody asks for. I asked the DHL guy here, and no, they definitely didn't want to take back any pallets even if they got them. I bought roofing tiles in 2011 for the stable, garage, and henhouse from https://www.xlbygg.se/npn/laholm.
I received compensation when I returned the pallets.
The pallets were charged at 131.50 SEK each and credited at 100 SEK each when I returned them after 4 months.
8 pallets = 800 SEK
They were Benders pallets.
Totally OK deal, I think.

I have just cut them up to use as firewood. They weren't real euro pallets but something simpler, though made of fairly sturdy material, real timber and heavy planks.
Checked with the supplier and there was no deposit system...

Good to have at the bottom of a woodshed or similar otherwise. They are quite resistant to moisture and allow air to flow underneath what you stack.
I usually return pallets when I buy pellets because then I get 10 pallets. To be environmentally conscious, I sell them but usually only get 100:- or similar for all the pallets. It barely covers the extra trip I have to take with the car and trailer. But if I could burn them, I would.
