I have a patio with a 2-degree slope today on top of a garage. Currently, there are tiles that are hopelessly slippery, cracked, etc. I'm thinking of laying a wooden deck floating on this. The construction is about 20 years old, so redoing the whole thing right now doesn't feel appropriate. The plan is to lay 28x120 pressure-treated lumber and use the same lumber as joists (lying flat) to have something to screw into.
I'm considering rolling out some kind of fabric on top of the tiles to keep it dry in the underlying setting bed. This is because it seems to be constantly wet now and is causing frost damage and such. Or is it very dumb to have double waterproofing layers? What kind of fabric should I roll out if that's the case?
Putting out a tarp seems unnecessary as you probably won't be able to make it 100% airtight and that will prevent it from drying out, which could potentially worsen it. (killgissar)
Lay the studs in the slope so you don't dam up the water and then just go for it, it's going to be fine.

Is there no fabric that is somewhat semi-dense then? So that the worst downpours/snowmelt flow on top of the fabric down into the gutter. At the same time, it slowly evaporates during scorching summer days?
The PVC sheet you seem to have under the tiles has exactly that property, diffusion-open but waterproof. Laying anything airtight over this is usually not a very good idea.
I wouldn't have put anything at all or completely redone the waterproofing layer; 20-year-old Sarnafil is still nice when it's on a roof, but how it looks in your case, of course, no one knows.
