Hi, I'm renovating the villa and now plan to install rigid foam on the concrete slab. I was thinking of placing regular RJ45 cables in electrical conduits on the slab and then cutting out in the foam. But I thought of skipping the conduits to save some money and laying the network cable directly on the slab and cutting out in the foam, skipping the conduit that is. Can this be done? Regular RJ45 cables can't get hot, right?

One advantage of having them in a hose is that you can replace them if there's ever a problem with the cable...

I think that is penny wise and pound foolish :). Firstly, it can't be about a lot of money, and secondly, as the magnet suggests, it's good to be able to change them if a fault arises or if you want to upgrade to better cables in the future. Additionally, regular cables are not intended for embedding, even if it most likely works - but why take the risk?
