Hello!

I need help figuring out the following: do you always have a ridge board?

I am working on a garage where I will install a sheet metal roof. Under the sheet metal roof, there is roofing felt on tongue-and-groove boards.

My hope is that you don't always need it. That way, I could get a bit more height inside under the ridge. I assume that the height of the house is determined by the highest fixed point, i.e., the ridge or possibly the bargeboard.

In the following description from www.byggbeskrivningar.se, you can see a picture where they have a Ridge Board:

(select the link to the right of Garage)

But in the following description, it doesn't seem like a ridge board is used:

Thank you very much in advance!
Best regards,
Fredrik

Answer: no, not for a metal roof. You can put up a ridge board to make the ridge straight, but it's easier to stretch a string one cm above where the top of the ridge metal sheet should be, then just follow the string, and the ridge will be straight and nice.
