Some short thoughts.
I'm considering restoring my quay, which is located directly by a river. The quay is currently built with old telephone poles. These are laid horizontally as a "frame" around the quay. There's also a pier here. It looks like there are a lot of large stones under the telephone poles, like a cribwork.
Is it best to leave the old telephone poles as they are and possibly improve them? Add an extra pole, etc. I think it might be unwise to start "tearing into" this and risk the cribwork, etc., starting to move. Am I thinking correctly?
What type of wood should I use to build the pier, new poles, decking?
I assume treated wood, but what kind? I know there are woods with different types of treatment. Some treatments are less suitable, others better. There shouldn't be overly strong treatment on the pier/decking where one will be lying/sitting, etc.
Grateful for tips!
