Hi, what would you recommend I do in this situation? It seems like I need to replace a beam where the garage door is mounted. The bottom approximately 20 cm on each side is starting to deteriorate. Now that I'm changing the panel and color from poop brown to light gray, I also want to fix this. Could I just cut off about 30 cm and replace it with a new pressure-treated beam and maybe add metal or something? What would you do?? Damaged garage door post with peeling brown paint, showing wear at the bottom.

Recognizable ;)

Poop brown- check

How could you guess that...and come up with a reasonable suggestion now.

Hmm do I have to help out too :)

I will probably do a quick fix by cutting off the bottom cm and then putting a sheet over it. Unfortunately, the timber is otherwise good, and I can't be bothered to scrape and repaint it in a more pleasant color for a long time.

I suspect it will have to be that way. Seems a bit tricky to loosen the sides of the garage door. Will have to use the multi-tool a bit.
