In our 1978 brick villa, we are planning to remove three windows in the living room (on the long side of the house) and install a sliding door. It will be about 3.6m wide. Between the windows, there is currently a thin stud about 2"x4" (bearing?). Above the windows, there is brick on the outside and a thin board on the inside. I have removed the gypsum on the inside to see, but I can't really see what's above this (the ceiling is in the way). If anyone has done something similar and can offer tips or if anyone just has ideas, I would be very grateful! :S.
