Hello, we would like to replace these 3 windows with an elongated 180x50cm window, it's an outer wall, how would you proceed construction-wise? Please draw and explain.

Three small windows in an insulated wall, with visible wooden framing, in a room setup likely for renovation or construction. Three small windows on an insulated outer wall with wooden framing, above a radiator, in need of renovation to replace with a larger window. Two brown-framed windows in an exterior wall with visible insulation. Nearby buildings can be seen through the windows.

Follow-up question, can I install two windows and place the studs at the red markings instead without losing strength?

Interior wall with two windows and red markings indicating where studs could be placed. The wall is insulated and partially unfinished.

Is the outer wall a gable side? It depends a bit on how the roof trusses run.

The house is an L-shaped house, the windows are marked in red, a load-bearing beam is marked in yellow, the drawing is a bit crooked, so the load-bearing continues between the small rooms, roof trusses marked in blue.

  • Floor plan of an L-shaped house showing red-marked windows, a yellow-marked load-bearing beam, and blue-marked roof trusses across various rooms.

Yes, that makes it a bit more difficult. It's no problem to execute, but it might be a good idea in this case to consult a structural engineer to get it properly dimensioned. If it's a bathroom, it's not just a matter of redoing it if there is a settlement...
