In our drawings, it is specified that columns VKR of quality S355J2 are to support an HEA 260 for the floor slab. The beam is supported by a cast wall at the other end.
Height of the column is 2400mm.

We have now received a question from the steel supplier if it is acceptable to use KKR of quality S355J2/S420MH.

Is this ok?

Exactly, the measurement might help. :D
100*100*5

The best would be if you knew how utilized the column is. KKR has slightly less load-bearing capacity than VKR. But if you mean that it is s420-steel with fyk=420MPa, then you can switch. If it is s355-steel, it is good to know the utilization rate of the columns.

Unfortunately, I don't know the utilization rate, I will try to find out, but I think it might be difficult.

Regarding the quality, I don't know, but it is described as above from the supplier.

The simplest way is to double-check with the steel supplier. But if the steel is labeled s420, then it's okay to switch.
