When building new, you would appropriately order long enough timber so you can install the fascia boards unspliced, I believe that for example Derome cuts 8m lengths.
Karl Hedin has fascia boards up to 7.2 meters, primed and undercoated. Only requires a final coat on the outside. 28 mm.

Nice thickness and good length compared with standard lengths, but is it primed with linseed oil paint?

Hi,

I replaced about 1.5 m on my mom's house this summer using "Option 3". I sawed off both brothers in the fascias at 90° but with about a 40 cm gap. That is, I separated them with a crowbar first and then sawed.

There was about 50 cm of healthy wood left, so it felt like an okay solution that only involved standing on a ladder for a while.

A couple of coats later, you couldn't see where I had joined.

I thought it was smooth and turned out well. We are aware that it's a solution that might last 10-15 years, but by then, my mom’s roof will need replacing, so there will be new fascias as well.

Splice with a straight cut. Prime or paint with linseed oil paint on the end grain before assembly to ensure it lasts a decent amount of time.
