Hello!

I'm going to help a friend replace the horizontal paneling on his garage. On top of the paneling, there's a folded metal piece, which I need to unscrew before I replace the paneling. My question is what I should keep in mind when removing, and then screwing back the metal piece. I assume some UV-resistant sealant should be applied to the screw holes before I screw the metal piece back on. Should there be sealant anywhere else? Anything else I should consider?

Thanks in advance//daniel

  • Metal flashing with visible screws and wear on black garage siding.
Number the plates so they are in the right place when they go back. And use screws with washers if there are any screws from above. Hard to see how it's done in the picture so I can't give more advice than that.

Scrape off loose paint + matt down the surface + paint. ;)
Before you put back the metal plate. :D

No seal between the plates? They should just rest against each other?

It's not mandatory, but of course, it doesn't hurt either.
