Absolutely one of the best ways to combine steel and wood. Usually only possible in new construction. However, the wood dimension must be chosen based on deflection and vibration requirements, not based on what looks good in the HEA beam. 45x170 is on the slender side for that span, even with screw gluing. But it looks very nice.

Yes, I know it's a borderline case. But of several difficult options, this felt like the best one.

The bending forces on the new wooden floor joists seem to act mainly on the 1 m span closest to the steel beam, right? Then the sloped roof comes, and it's not possible to stand/walk further out, so there is no significant load. As I see it, the steel beam essentially takes all the load.

A good point from @Oldboy. When I calculate it just for fun, the deflection in the middle of the beam is 4.3 mm and 1 m from the steel beam 2.9 mm. I have assumed that the beams are 3.5 m long, of class C 24, and that the instantaneous point load is 100 kg. I have not considered noggins and glued chipboard. But it probably becomes a bit wobbly in relation to the standard.

Yes, my studs are C24 but the exterior dimension of the house is 7m so the measurement of the studs is rather 3.2 than 3.5 meters. I don't know if this has any significant impact but at least it's in the right direction.

@G-83! If you are satisfied, that's good! My intention was not primarily to criticize you but to point out that the dimensions of the wooden beams should not be chosen solely based on the measurements of the steel beam.

No worries. I absolutely didn't take it as criticism and I completely agree with you that one shouldn't choose studs based on beams. I appreciate that you take the time to help with calculations with your expertise.

The reason for my explanation was more of a hidden question about what difference it makes to have a 3.2m instead of a 3.5m span on a 45x170 stud.

The deflection decreases by about one-sixth, so span reductions are always positive. With noggings, screw-glued chipboard, and considering that one mostly stays in the middle of the room, it is OK.
