Repair scratch in stainless steel
Now of course I don't know what you use your sink for, but I assumed it was in a kitchen. If it's rusting because juice is on it, you probably shouldn't drink that juice anywayMisacsson said:
I know that! But have you ever seen how scratches and damages on stainless steel collect rust? A damage causes various strong agents and juices, etc., to accumulate and affect it in a completely different way.
There's a difference if it's stainless steel with corrosion resistance class C1 or C5 as well. In the case of the IKEA sink, I haven't managed to find this information.
Again: your sink won't rust through. Sure, it's annoying to have a scratch or a dent but it's just aesthetic, the lifespan is intact.
My stainless steel countertop with accompanying sink and drain has been in use since 1968 and doesn't have a single rust spot. I don't think you should worry. The point of countertops is that they are supposed to withstand water.Misacsson said:

Getting rid of the scratch is practically impossible. Pouring in epoxy does nothing either way. As already mentioned, the scratch has no practical significance. Of course, it's unfortunate if the countertop is new. In a few years, when the entire sink is slightly scratched, scouring pads are excellent for making it look nice!
