Currently renovating an old HSB apartment from '53. Internally, the walls are plastered onto brick. Some plaster has come loose; how should it be repaired?

30-second version:

Tap off the loose parts so what's left sounds solid when you tap it. Brick can absorb quite a bit, so wet the brick before plastering or apply a slurry of plaster with a thin consistency. Apply the plaster and scrape off with a board. If there are patchy areas, scrape off against existing plaster; otherwise, you'll need to install strips to scrape against. Once the plaster has started to set, go over the surface with a brush or similar tool to finish it off.
