We have a concrete staircase, whose stringer rests on a metal bracket attached to the foundation. For some unknown reason, there is a previously cut notch in the corner of the top step, and the stringer bracket beneath it has started to deteriorate so that you can now see the reinforcement.
Is it possible to repair the stringer to prevent further deterioration? How is that done? Do you build a small casting mold around it and fill it with cement?
Now it's time to do something.. I've read some threads with different recommendations and am leaning towards brushing on primer and then filling with Ardex A46.
For some reason, the large tile doesn't completely cover the vangstycke, which I think would have provided more weather protection, but I'm probably not going to do anything about it. I don't really see how it would be possible.
Can anything be done better? Someday it might be time to replace the stairs, but not today. However, I want to slow down the deterioration. I think water has been absorbed along the rebar on the short side of the vangstycke towards the house and then cracked..
