Hello!

How would you repair this cracked MDF door? Is regular wood glue enough if I let it seep into the cracks and then use a block and clamp to let it dry? Will it hold for the small plastic hinges that are supposed to support the door, which is openable, or do I need a different glue?

Is it then regular wood filler that's needed and thereafter paint the filler with the right color? Is it recommended to tape before filling to avoid filling and painting more than just the cracks?

Thanks in advance!

Well, if it's going to hold, maybe. But if you just glue and clamp it together, the piece is likely to bend at the glue joint. Place a couple of planks on each side with clamps, the planks guide the loose piece. Glue and clamp together, preferably with two clamps.

Apply masking tape before the glue so you avoid getting glue in the wrong place.

Then it will probably never look good unless you paint the entire surface.

I wouldn't try to fix it. Replace the door or manage without.

Thin-flowing super glue is the easiest way to make the hatch durable again, with substantial penetration.

Thanks for all the great tips. I'll have to give it some thought : -)
