have cut out a door in a cellar wall, old casting with large cobblestones and small gravel. The wall is about 40cm thick and it’s a very uneven hole. Now I want to fix straight edges around this hole before we start installing a double door.
I'm a bit lazy and want to avoid carrying lots of concrete down there. Can EPS concrete be used to cast the door edges? It will likely require quite a bit, but everything is completely stable, so there is no load on the casting. I just want it straight and nice and to give a cast feel that can be painted with concrete paint. It wouldn't be entirely wrong if the door frame could be nailed into it as well.
Is it possible? EPS is light, but how durable is it compared to regular concrete? Does it end up like lightweight concrete, leca blocks, etc. once it's cured?
