Hi, I have painted walls with some type of textured fabric that is quite bumpy. Since I personally dislike it strongly, I decided to put 6mm renovation plasterboard on top. I've read a bit in various threads and concluded that it should work with plasterboard + plaster mortar as "glue."

However, I'm wondering about your experiences on how well it adheres?

The wall is quite bumpy, so it feels like it should set, but at the same time, it's painted, so the mortar might not "absorb" so well?

What do you think? Very grateful for answers.

What kind of wall is it? Plaster or concrete wall?

Either way, I would probably have sanded the walls with a machine. Primed with Sigma Renova primer and applied joint compound evenly.

It's an old house, so I would say some type of particle board.

But with some fabric that has been painted over on top.

Why not just screw?

Read around a bit and got the impression that 6mm drywall tends to bend in connection with this and forms small "craters" and understood that gluing + a few fastening screws during the gluing was preferable.

Don't know if you have any views on this, I'm quite a novice :)

Use 13mm gypsum instead and screw it, that's my tip.

I think it seems mostly messy to deal with mortar, I would have tried screwing and considered using 13 mm gypsum instead.

The wall is quite bumpy, so it seems like it should stick, but at the same time, it's painted, so the mortar might not "absorb" well?

Could it be a removable textured wallpaper since it is bumpy?
Meaning that over the layer with the texture, it can be torn off, leaving just a thin paper layer.

Fiberglass fabric is usually not bumpy but patterned.

My explanation is probably just bad. It looks like a fabric, not bumps.
