Today I started sanding the floors and walls in the basement. The floor is painted with epoxy paint which will be removed and replaced with tiles, which should not be a problem.

The walls are plastered but have very porous plaster and have been replastered in places with harder plaster. Over this, several layers of various types of paint have been applied, so I want to sand off all the paint below ground level and then paint everything with silicate paint.

Now to the question:
When I sand the walls, the surface becomes very uneven, and at the bottom, I have had to knock off some loose plaster. What is the easiest way to do it, can you plaster where needed and at the same time "skim coat" where I have sanded with the same plaster?

I assume it is plaster C I should use, right?

Is it possible to apply a thinner layer than the 3mm they mention?

What is used where thicker layers are needed?

common C mortar, such as Plaster and masonry mortar C or Plaster mortar C

Party, thanks for the tips!

Borrowing the thread.
I will rent a concrete grinder this weekend to grind the walls in spots in the basement where the wallpaper won't come off.
I plan to go very cautiously with the grinder so I don't remove more plaster than necessary.
I assume I will need to apply new plaster, but how thin can you plaster really? Is 2mm too thin, for example?
