Hi folks,

It's time to renovate a staircase that goes between 3 floors and the following questions have come up, for which I would gladly receive tips and advice.
Below are pictures of the staircase in its current form.
Interior staircase with brown carpeted steps and a white wooden railing, walls with peeling paint. Steps show a slight raised edge at the front. Wooden staircase steps with a slightly raised edge and old carpet, part of a renovation project to install new felt carpeting.

1. At the front of the steps, there is a small edge that is a few millimeters higher than the carpet itself, which is somewhat uncomfortable to walk on.
Should this be sanded down so that the entire step is at the same height? Are there any problems with this?

2. We are considering replacing the carpet with a needle punch carpet, specifically this one: https://www.kilandsmattor.se/strong-antracit-875-nalfiltsmatta.html
Do these needle punch carpets work well on stairs? Or do they tend to curl up around the corners?

3. How do you measure the steps, take the radius of the step and add a few centimeters and then just cut them? Are there any tips and tricks that are good to know?

4. Would you glue the carpet down or use both glue + nails?

Best regards,
Pär Pettersson
