Thinking about modernizing/renovating/painting the staircase, anyone have any good ideas? Open to all types of ideas. Preferably with pictures if you have any.. :)

Does anyone know what's on the staircase, carpet? It doesn't feel soft like a carpet.

Close-up of a staircase step with a smooth surface, possibly covered with a non-cushioned material, in need of renovation.

Some type of linoleum, I think. There are ready-made systems to cover the steps with. Or just paint and buy a "mat set" and stick it on.

Kind regards, fremax

Kährs and Tarkett also sell stair noses that match their floors. I believe it will be cheaper than the ready-made solutions for stairs - It's not as difficult to cover a stair as one might think if you are just careful. A stair compass is recommended if the stair is curved.

Thank you for the response! Is it possible to paint directly on the flooring if it's Linoleum? Or should it be removed?
We are considering painting the entire staircase white.

Mom and dad painted their rug with a specific paint, they consulted at the paint store about which paint to use.

And now after a few years, it's not worn off.

Lutte, do you have any pictures of how it looks after painting? Can you see if there was wallpaper there before?
