hey again
new problem on our hands naturally.:D:D
my wife and I are contemplating what makes the most sense to do with the wall between the living room and the kitchen, and what is the cheapest to do. we had thoughts about removing it and opening up in between or just making a big window there instead.

also don't know if it's a load-bearing wall or not, but apparently not according to building engineers from villahem.

so go ahead with suggestions on what you would have done in our place. I'll also include some pictures of the wall to be removed.

picture no. 1. is the actual house plan.
picture no. 2. the cabinets and fridge and freezer should be moved away from the wall and that's the wall that might come down.
picture no. 3. photo from the large hallway of the wall that might come down.
picture no. 4. is the same wall but seen from the living room toward the kitchen.
picture no. 5. photo from the small hallway toward the wall that might come down.

  • Floor plan of a house showing rooms, hall, kitchen, living room, and garage. A wall between the living room and kitchen is under renovation consideration.
  • Kitchen area with white cabinets, refrigerator covered with magnets, and the wall potentially to be removed.
  • View from a hallway towards a kitchen with white cabinets and a rug, featuring an archway and a sideboard with decorations.
  • Dining area with wooden table and chairs, adjacent to a plain wall with archway; potential wall for removal or window installation between living room and kitchen.
  • View from the large hallway showing the wall between the living room and kitchen, which is being considered for removal or modification.
I would think it is load-bearing. In that case, it would become a beam in the ceiling.

What do you think about possibly whitewashing the pine floor in the living room???
If it is load-bearing, which I also guess since our daughters' bedroom wall rests on that wall, it will either be a steel beam or a wooden beam, and possibly a kartobalk if it holds, that is.
