Remove broken hinge fittings from stone post
Hello!
I'm in the process of building a new fence and will also be adding a couple of gates. The problem is that there are broken hinge fittings that I want to remove without cracking the posts. In 2 of them, there are something that look like weld plugs, and in the other 2 there are bolts remaining, but which have broken off a bit inside.
So my question is, do you have any good suggestions on how to remove these?
Best regards, Manne

Do not heat, the stone may crack.
Drilling is a nuisance, make sure to start in the middle and try to drill straight from the beginning. Start with a smaller drill, 5mm might be appropriate. If the drill comes against the stone, it can easily become dull on the edge, but there are new ones available.

Rust is not a major problem if you're using a pin, but if the break is below the surface, it's not possible to weld it.
