Hello!

Looking for construction tips for a flush sliding door in a thin interior wall, totaling 70 mm thick.
I have seen that there are frames that give a finished wall of 95 mm with a standard door leaf. I was thinking of using something like a 19mm MDF as a door leaf instead to maintain the thickness of the wall. However, I can't make it work with the framing. I don't have major requirements for soundproofing or extreme stability.
I would prefer not to have an external door. It is also difficult to make the wall thicker due to a small room with tight furnishings.

Any tips, thoughts?

Hello,

This is the first time I'm linking to Do It Yourself! :) I actually think the magazine is good, but the building tips are usually so-so. But this sliding door is both stylish and cheap. Since I read about it this summer, I've wanted to try building it: http://gds.se/doerrar-och-foenster/skapa-plats-med-en-skjutdoerr I don't know if you are a member and can access the article. However, it might be for a standard door leaf. You can perhaps determine that after checking the materials used:
• 1 board, planed pine, 22 x 70 mm
• 1 top board and two gables, planed pine, 15 x 80 mm
• 1 front, planed pine, 15 x 120 mm
• 1 door leaf
• 1 Rollock 960 set with sliding door rail, 2 roller carriages with fittings, stop block and floor fitting
• Moldings for the rebate, e.g., 12 x 33 mm
• 2 recessed handles

But that one is an external.

Thanks, found the wrong article. This is the one I was thinking of:

• 1 sliding door cassette M8-210
with 122 mm frame • 1 door leaf

Hello!

I have built several doors and frames of this type in my summer house. I can upload some pictures and drawings later tonight if you're interested. I bought the sliding door fittings (rail, "carriages", guide fin, etc.) from England at a fraction of the Swedish prices. I paid about 250:- per door with a 2.5m rail including shipping, the cheapest I found in Sweden was well over 1000:- each.

I built the door leaves "torsion box"-like with a 30mm framework with foam insulation and masonite surface, totaling just under 40mm. The recess in the wall for the door is 45mm, then there is 17mm shiplap on both sides, totaling about 80mm. If you reduce the thickness of the door leaf, you should be able to get down to 70mm without major problems.

That sounds interesting! Fun! More info is gratefully received!!

I bought sliding door fittings (track, "carriages", guide fin, etc.) from England at a fraction of the Swedish prices. I paid around 250:- per door with a 2.5m track including shipping, the cheapest I found in Sweden was well over 1000:- each.

I built the door leaves similarly to a "torsion box" with a 30mm framework with foam insulation and a masonite surface, totaling just under 40mm. The wall pocket for the door is 45mm, then there is 17mm solid wood paneling on both sides, in total about 80mm. If you reduce the thickness of the door leaf, you should be able to get down to 70mm without major problems.

Hello,
I'm about to build sliding doors for a closet and looking for fittings, where in England did you buy the fittings and was it both door and floor track?
