Have requested quotes for materials to build a lecablock wall.
The seller claims that I cannot use regular reinforcement bars in the wall. (It will be backfilled 2m high with sand)
Galvanized wire mesh is what's required. Can this really be true, and why if so?
 
In my 70s house, there are regular reinforcement bars in joints with mortar. All have rusted and burst the joints from the inside. This year, it will be necessary to redo the brick beams with stainless steel reinforcement.

Mortar does not protect the iron in the same way as concrete.

Yes, now that you mention it, I recall that the irons were enormously rusty in the brick facade of the building

Maybe it's worth the extra cost with bistål then..
