Pros and cons of nails vs screws

Imagine you're putting up a plank.
What is the best approach?
What are your experiences?
What are your friend's experiences?
What are your neighbor's experiences?

This must be able to be discussed in less than 1000 posts, right?

I just bend my nails and hit everything around, including my thumb.

I nail everything (with a nail gun) that needs to be fixed and doesn't risk being disturbed if small movements occur.

Decking and drywall are screwed on, as well as anything that might need to be removed and reinstalled.

I often feel that nails get a bit of undeserved criticism when the comparison is manual hammering versus using a driver to insert screws.

For me, it goes incredibly fast to put up studs, paneling, paper, etc., with a nail gun compared to even using screws on a strip.

Nail gun if it is meant for demolition and there are a lot of nails to be driven in. If it's just a few fixings, often the setup time for the nail gun is too long and then you use screws.

Always screws!

Nails just bend and move around and act up. And then I get shoulder pain (could be tennis's fault).

And if you happen to get one in (in the wrong place, of course) they are j-t unwilling to be pulled out.

These are my favorites for exterior use. For example, 4.2 x 45 for putting up door and window casings and corner boards:



And for interior use on panels, moldings, and other things, these are great

Previously, I almost screwed everything, but since I bought my stompicka, nailing became much more fun.

Spikpistol om det skall sitta till rivning samt att det är en del spik som ska bankas i. Handlar det bara om några fåtal infästningar så är ofta ställtiden för lång för spikpistolen och då skruvar man.

Finns ju både batteridrivna och gasdrivna spikpistoler, så där föll ställtiden 😉
