Hello!

Thinking about building a wall. It should be attached to the house at one end and extend straight out, be about 2 meters high and 5 meters long, and plastered.

I suspect you first dig _deep_, then lay some kind of foundation layer, pour a footing, and build with lecablock (?) which is then plastered. Also, must not forget to install electricity for lighting before the whole thing is finished.

How much might such a wall cost??

Lecablock, plaster, and concrete are not particularly expensive. You need about 8-9 per square meter, and they cost about 20 SEK each. You would need 10 sqm, so 9*20*10 = about 1800 SEK. Then the same amount for the rest is added. Electricity, however, is expensive, and you can't do it yourself, so expect about the same amount for that... Excavation might cost a bit if you hire an excavator, but no more than a few thousand SEK. So, all in all, you'll probably end up around 10000 SEK (but it might go up to 20000 SEK if you're unlucky with the electricity and excavation).

Depending on where kloka_elin lives, you could dig the trench yourself by hand—a 5-meter-long channel that's 50 cm deep (southern Sweden) and slightly wider than the leca block isn't impossible to dig by hand and would take at most a day (depending on the ground conditions).

If you live in Norrland, you need to dig deeper... so you might want to hire a digger, as it could be too narrow to dig otherwise.

Ask the electrician if you can install the VP pipes and wires yourself, and then have him connect it to the grid, which could save you some money...

I live in Värnamo, and it can freeze quite deeply here... A company I talked to said you should ideally dig at least 90 cm. With my priorities, an excavator is well-invested money! However, paying for what he estimated as 2 hours per square meter of wall, and 4 hours if it's double-sided, doesn't seem quite reasonable to me.

Ahh, you wanted a price on what a craftsman charges to build the wall? no idea but a small wall like that can easily be built by yourself (if you have the time, which can be the biggest problem).

No, really what it costs to do it yourself since it was so incredibly expensive to let them do it. And sure, I've never done any masonry before, but on the other hand, I hadn't done anything else either before I tried for the first time, and so far everything has gone well. You just have to ask for tips and advice from nice acquaintances who know what you're trying to do...
