I have acquired an above-ground pool and plan to build a simple deck around it and enclose the pool. It will be directly on the ground and I want the building height to be as low as possible.

However, it seems NTR A is only available from 145x45 and up (from a quick check with construction companies).

How long of a lifespan can one expect if you place NTR AB directly on the ground? Can it be treated in any way to extend its lifespan? Anything extra to consider when building around a pool?

if you want low building height, 70x70 is usually ntrA

As long as the wood is not standing in water or sitting directly on damp ground, it will be fine. If you put NTR AB directly on soil or clay, it will rot sooner or later. You should aim for a solution that lasts as long as the decking, at least 15 years.

One alternative could be to bury patio slabs so they just stick up a few cm and lay sill paper on them. That way you get a low height and avoid direct contact. Or, as mentioned, 70x70 posts. Or you could split 45x145 lengthwise. With something as narrow as 45x70, there is a high risk that the deck will become wavy even if you have support all the way.

Does 70x70 provide equivalent stability as 145x45?
Or is there a greater risk of it moving?
The price is the same and I want to avoid digging more than necessary.
I also want to maintain a good height (at least 90cm) on the pool even when the deck is in place.
