We have a villa built in '56 with a clad chimney stack, meaning it is wallpapered and rarely (if ever?) gets particularly warm. We had a String shelf on such a wall anchored with regular plugs and screws, but the plugs tended to come out of the wall.
Now, I'm wondering what can be used to make it stay when we now plan to put up a plate shelf for plates and cookbooks on the same wall, but after searching the forum here, I'm also wondering if you can even have a shelf against a chimney stack? ::eek: Someone mentioned you need to check with the chimney sweep, does the same apply when there's already wallpaper on it?
