We recently plastered the walls in our living room. I love the raw feel and would prefer not to paint, but my husband claims that the "plaster flakes." Is there any way to treat it without painting and avoid the flaking?

The plaster does not suffer from being unpainted; it should rather remain unpainted for several weeks. For example, we left the base unpainted over the last winter.

All the småputs that trickles down the walls then? Vacuum vacuum vacuum?

If it is so porous that it constantly crumbles, then the plaster is probably not as it should be.

Take a broom and brush off the walls, then most of the loose stuff should come off. I agree that an untreated wall looks nice, stand your ground!

Otherwise, you can apply a layer of water glass (sodium silicate) to the surface to counteract "drössel". Check with paint stores or hardware stores.

Could be something, as one hardly wants oneself and the children to inhale lots of lime dust just because the mom wants raw walls.
Well, that might be true, but one should always be cautious of information that, if acted upon, leads to purchasing products from the provider of the information. No references to current research, etc., increases the bullshit risk.

Anyone with access to research results that say the same thing as the info on that page? Would be interesting to read...

It is the law to paint it so you have to.

Law to paint? What do you mean? We have Hydrauliskt kalkputs.

As in "according to Swedish law." It was a joke. Don't paint if you don't want to. Won't affect the wall.
