Hello,
I recently attempted to install window grilles in the stable, which has now become a workshop. To my great dismay, it is almost impossible to secure a mounting element.
Neither screws, plugs, expansion screws, leca screws, expansion bolts, anchor mass with perforated sleeves, etc., etc., etc. seem to do the trick.
The materials are so fragile and seem to be hollow as well.
The stable was built in 1949.
Does anyone know what material it is and which fasteners are suitable???
I managed to secure a grille adequately by drilling with 10 mm, then sprayed with anchor mass, inserted a long 8 mm plug, let it dry and then inserted an equally long but oversized torx screw.
However, I cannot claim that it will hold when someone with a crowbar tries to get in.

Hello Hobbit!
Can't you run a continuous threaded rod and a flat bar with holes along the entire window on the inside? A thief can unscrew bolt or screw heads, right?
Good Luck! Johan

It becomes a thermal bridge, but I also think it's the best solution in a case like this. The only reasonable alternative I can think of is to embed something in the wall that can be attached to.
