Hello!
We are going to build in an area where they only allow plaster or brick, and only in white or red shades.
We need some advice on what to choose. Partly if there are different types of plaster - durability, etc. Or if we should choose brick. Also grateful for some thoughts on the choice of color.

Hello
Do you have any idea how much the price differs between a plastered facade vs. a wooden facade (roughly speaking...)?

We have received a price quote for plastering approximately 110-130 thousand more compared to wood, and that includes plastering all the way up to the ridge. If we choose brick, we have received offers between 170-250 thousand more compared to wood.

Thanks!
I've picked out a house, and it looks best with a plastered facade. I don't know if the municipality approves plaster in our intended area though... ???

From what we understand, brick is almost maintenance-free. But what about stucco and how durable is this spray-on stucco that house manufacturers talk about? Are there different types or qualities? Anything else to consider when it comes to stucco?

Hello,
We have plastered our house in the old-fashioned way. The house is made of Siporex, which is netted, primed, and then plastered with 10mm +/-. Then we created a structure with spritz. There have been no problems at all.
We painted with Nordsjö silicate paint in shade S3050-Y70R, which is a rust-red/terracotta-like color. See more at http://husbygget.lovskog.com.
When we built (2000), the additional cost was 100 for both brick and plaster.
However, I recently heard that our quality inspector has been in contact with garbo about reconsidering offering a 10-year warranty on plaster on a wooden frame. It seems like plastering is done on some form of foam plastic nailed to the wooden frame. This is precisely due to cracks.
Whether this is a major problem or not, I don't know, but he is a well-renowned inspector.

Hello Johan Vetgirig,
Thank you. We thought long and hard before choosing the color. It was quite a hassle to get it right as well, so the color lab at Nordsjö had to step in and mix it.
Very serious and helpful. All via färgtema in Kävlinge.

Hi Thomas, do you have any address for Garbo, (a company or?)? We were actually thinking of having plaster on a wooden frame since the other part of the house will be in wood. We will probably start a timber construction this spring... hehe probably biting off more than we can chew, as usual. I agree that if you want something done right, do it yourself...
Best regards, Ingvar W

Hello!
We have received two different proposals for plastering our house (elevated 1-story house of about 140m2). One proposal is for a spray plaster from STO (www.sto.se) on 50mm polystyrene that is anchored to the exterior gypsum, and the other proposal is for a spray plaster from Optiroc (www.optiroc.se) type Serpo on 50mm stone wool that is anchored to the exterior gypsum. The STO plaster is based on a newer thin spray plaster, while the Optiroc plaster is based on an older thicker spray plaster.
[*]Does anyone have positive or negative experiences with these two brands (STO vs Optiroc)?
[*]Is the thinner plaster just as resistant to potential "movements" in the structure, which can occur between seasons?
[*]How are these two different types of plaster affected by cold and moisture?
[*]Approximately how long have these two different techniques been used (is the thin one well-proven)?
Best regards / Erik

We are going to have a concrete house, but on the upper floor, the dormers are made of wood. We have ordered from the house manufacturer to deliver the dormers with "Masterfasad," a mineral board that can be plastered directly on.
Then we found a paint that can be mixed with a kind of sand in different coarseness, which we plan to use to give the same appearance as we have on the real plastered (concrete) walls.
I believe the boards cost 200/ sqm.
