Hello!
I have laid two courses of Lecablock for a foundation wall for a greenhouse. I'm considering plastering the stone to then paint the wall. The problem is that my hardware store doesn't have red primer (which I have read according to some manufacturers should be applied).

Question:
Can I apply a thin layer of plaster directly on the Lecablock without red primer? Will any color differences between the joint and stone be concealed by the paint I will use later?

As I understand it from masons I have hired, they use rödgrund to splash on the wall in a very thin layer, just to get a grip for the upcoming layer of plaster.

Thus, they plaster afterwards with cement mortar.
But perhaps there are as many masons as there are uses for rödgrund...?

As an alternative, you can take pure cement mortar mixed only with water and splash it on with, for example, a lime brush. The mixture should be as thin as porridge and maybe even a little thinner.
Let dry and then you plaster normally on this.

In itself, lecan is considered a good base for plastering, unlike lightweight concrete, so you probably don't need to splash first, but it never hurts...

Regardless of whether you use rödgrund or cement, you should water the wall before splashing on the thin mixture.

You will probably always see shade differences between the joint and the stone even if you have plastered on top, especially when the wall is wet after rain.
