Where can you buy plaster powder?
I bought a Weber 25kg bag at K-Rauta for around 150:- but it turned out it also contained coarse sand around 2mm. I found something similar at Bauhaus. But where can you find plaster without sand?
I found 5 kg bags for 350:-. I'm going to do some stucco work so I need quite a bit, so you can't really pay 350:- for 5kg, that's like being robbed..
It has to be pure plaster, not plastic-reinforced. I'm building a fireplace with an insert, so it needs to withstand some heat.
Does anyone know?

Hmm! From what I've learned, Weber has a natural gypsum that is just gypsum but can vary in grain size. Could it be that you bought the right one, but it has a few large gypsum grains in it? Check with K-Rauta, I know they've had pure gypsum before at least.
Hobby stores like e.g. Slöjddetaljer I have purchased from, it turned out smooth and nice.
Pharmacies also have plaster but probably not in a sack. 😄
Thank you, it's good... But I live in Uppsala, and the shipping becomes unnecessarily large. Have you tried making stucco with it? How quickly does it set? I've tried to find the instructions online but haven't succeeded.ceson said:
Yes, the plaster putty worked well for plastering, but now I need smooth plaster. And preferably without gauze...
This is how I'm supposed to do it..

The idea was that I would try to make decorations for a clock case, but it fell by the wayside, so it became candle holders with the grandchildren instead. I think these were manageable after about 30 minutes. Please keep us updated on how it goes with your stuccoworkKrillew said:

Yes, so far I have been plastering with Weber's gypsum plaster, and to avoid the bumpy surface, I went over the surface with a steel trowel before it dried completely. This removed the bumps, but I got a scratched surface which I think turned out well; I actually don't want it completely smooth. I plan for the cornice to be smooth. What currently looks like a cornice was made with aerated concrete blocks that I brushed with gypsum, but the coarse variant, so I need to do it with fine gypsum to get the surface I want. Aerated concrete is quite porous, which I have remedied with the gypsum. Now, I plan to create a cornice in gypsum that will sit at the top by the ceiling. I will also continue with the left pillar up to the cornice and make a pillar on the right side that goes all the way up. A stone slab will be added so the fireside shelf becomes a bit thicker. Then, there will be a bench at the bottom which will also have a slab. But now comes the fun part, learning to carve moldings in gypsum.
Here you can get a hint of how I shaped the aerated concrete

I got hold of stucco plaster 25kg for 350kr, I mixed it like filmjölk and brushed it on but the working time was probably no more than 10 minutes. So for filling, it doesn't work well. I mixed maybe 1dl at a time and couldn't get it all on before it set. I will go over with sandpaper a bit, possibly building up a bit more.
With filmjölk?! Why this choice?Krillew said:I got hold of stucco plaster 25kg 350kr, I mixed it like filmjölk and brushed it on, but the open time was probably no more than 10min. Nice job!
