Hello,
I have a room with treetex on the walls directly on brick. I was planning to put 6 mm drywall over this to avoid skim coating. The treetex is nailed to the wall and I was thinking of attaching the drywall with adhesive and a few galvanized nails straight through to the brick.
Does anyone have experience with this method? What adhesive is suitable to use? Is pre-drilling and using nail plugs a better fastening method?
Grateful for tips and advice!

I would advise against this solution. Treetex is very porous, and I'm afraid your joints will crack. A better solution if you want to avoid plastering is to glue 6mm gypsum to the brick wall. I guess we're talking about an older house, and then it's quite likely you have a plastered and spackled wall behind the treetex, which is an excellent wall to glue onto. If you're lucky, the wall is so intact that you only need to fill the nail holes and then can paint. Thus, avoiding the gypsum.

If you choose this solution, do not repeat our mistake. We removed the moldings at the same time as the treetex. The usual practice is to set the treetex against the molding (and not under it). We have still not put the moldings back, which will probably need to be glued back.

there may also be standing wooden planks behind the treetex. But I doubt you can glue anything to the treetex. If it's an exterior wall, you might want to add insulation to it.

Otherwise, you might consider removing the trätex. On an interior wall, it doesn't do much good; there are better materials today. On an exterior wall, it does provide some insulation.

Hello again,
Just wanted to tell you that it worked perfectly to glue on Treetex! The biggest advantage of keeping it was that it was super easy to lay electrical conduits. Just had to cut grooves with a knife instead of getting the whole house dusty if I had put the conduits in the brick wall. Plus, the outer walls are warm and cozy since Treetex insulates quite well.
Best regards,
Musashi

We also only have good experiences with gluing plaster on threetex. Glued with plaster glue. No cracks and easy to insert pipes for cables as mentioned.
