In which layer of render is the reinforcement mesh placed? Is it not in the first/innermost layer? I am plastering basement walls indoors and will be using base coat A, render coat C, and rendering mortar C? I am thinking that I will then plaster the reinforcement mesh in base coat A, i.e., the first/innermost layer.

Best regards,
Richard

In some "descriptions" they press the plaster net into the base coat as it dries. The net then ends up in the innermost layer.

Isn't that plastic mesh and thin plaster?
I have no idea about that.

Actually, you don't need to use mesh in the basement unless it is over different materials. And if you use base mortar A, you don't need any mesh at all. Since the mortar is so strong, it tears the mesh in any case. Skip using base mortar A altogether, and explain a bit how you're going to mesh. One doesn't use A mortar on walls or even indoors. It's used on plinths outdoors, is concrete.
