Hello everyone.

I have a wall stove that I want to have decorative painting on. Right now the stove is plastered. So I was thinking of smoothing it out with putty first. Can you recommend a putty that is heat-resistant and elastic?

Thanks for the help.

  • Plastered corner fireplace with a decorative painting leaning on it, showing a clean and unfinished surface; tools and wooden crate nearby.
  • Close-up of a textured plastered fireplace surface awaiting smooth spackling for decorative painting.
Start by scraping the surface with a putty knife to remove loosely embedded gravel particles.
Then you can use regular wall filler (not lightweight filler). You can paint with regular wall paint 7 to get a matte yet easily wipeable surface. Snap a photo and try different shades; you can have a color other than white.
